"Keep My Eyes On The Door"

I am so very glad that it is Friday but I guess I say that every Friday! I have been waiting all day to share something with you. It happened this morning at work not too long after I had arrived at work. Been laughing about it throughout the day. Hope it lifts your spirit tonight.

Come over here, sit down and put your feet up - rest for a while. Today I would like to take to the playground with me. You see it’s almost time for the bell to ring and that means the youngin’s will rush to their classrooms and start their day with their teachers.

It is 5 minutes to 9:00 - there by the sand yard two of my four-year-olds are trying to decide what to do. They have decided to play a game so I told them that the bell would be ringing soon - just as a reminder so that they knew they would have to stop soon.

They took off running so I turned around to check on someone else. When I turned back around I realized that one of the boys was standing as if he were waiting for the “ready, set, go” command - So someone asked him what he was waiting for. His reply was that he was waiting for the bell to ring so he could line up.

Well I didn’t want him to stand there for 5 minutes - I knew it would seem like an eternity so I reminded him that he had plenty of time to go play some more. But he wanted to stay there.

Someone standing next to him decided to try and engage him in conversation just to pass the time. They asked him what he was thinking about. His reply, “I don’t want to think. I only want to keep my eyes on the door.”

Humm ...

Something tells me this kid will go far in life if he can transfer that concept to the things of God. Now I am not saying God doesn’t want us to think - He gave us a mind and He expects us to use it. What I am saying is this ...

Where we keep our eyes will determine what things we think on. If we focus our attention on Him then the things around us won’t matter - Our thoughts and our emotions will be governed by Him. If we take our eyes off of Him then it is like renting out mind space to things that have no business taking up that space in the first place.

That little boy only had one goal in mind - get to that door as fast as he could - nothing else matter - not even thinking~

Well, I will close this off here. I don’t want to think anymore:) I have one thing in my mind! Get to that chair over there~
